ATI’s 1GB FireGL V7350

ATI’s 1GB FireGL V7350: "The battle between ATI and nVidia just stepped up a notch with the introduction of the ATI FireGL V7350 GPU. The V7350’s claim to fame is that it is the first GPU to boast a full 1GB of memory. Meant for workstations, the card features ATI’s Avivo video and display technology, which increases the color depth to 10-bit and allows for a color palette of over a billion colors. Born of the 90nm design process, the V7350 also has a 512-bit ring bus speed. How much would you pay for such a card? Well, $1999 is the price that Alienware et al. are looking for. Looks like it’s time to take a second mortgage.

Thermaltake Silent Boost RX K8 CPU Cooler Review

Thermaltake Silent Boost RX K8 CPU Cooler Review: " 'What makes the Silent Boost unique is the fan. This meaty 5 blade fan is what Thermaltake calls a 'reversed fan'. There is no housing that surrounds the fan blade tips. Thermaltake figures this is the main cause for turbulence, causing noise when the fan is in operation. The fan uses a standard 3-pin connector whose wires are sleeved. A 3-pin to Molex connector was not included.'"

Intel to Ship Quad-Core Processor in January

Intel to Ship Quad-Core Processor in January: "Intel revealed its latest roadmaps for processor releases, and the big news is a quad-core desktop chip the company calls Kentsfield which should be available in January. Hey, that's the same month Microsoft is saying Vista will ship. The company plans for the processor to be used on desktops and as a Viiv chip.

Meanwhile, Intel quietly launched a 3.73GHz dual core Pentium processor, which the company says will ship in the second quarter of this year. Christened the Pentium Extreme Edition 965 (pictured at right), it will replace the 955, the current top-of-the-line Extreme Edition chip which runs at 3.46 GHz.

Dell XPS 600 Renegade goes on sale for $10K

Dell XPS 600 Renegade goes on sale for $10K: "Filed under: Desktops, Gaming If you've been ogling Dell's XPS 600 Renegade gaming rig since CES, and waiting to get your hands on one, now's your chance. If you're prepared to spend close to $10,000, that is ($9,930, to be precise). So, what do you get for that price, other than the dubious ability to boast that you spent ten grand on a Dell, dude? For starters, it's got NVIDIA Quad-SLI graphics and an overclocked Pentium 965 Extreme Edition running at 4.26 GHz. Dell is also throwing in their 30-inch 3007WFP display, which regularly goes for $2,199, making this a veritable bargain! Well, maybe not. But, hey, there's always that paint job, right? That's gotta be worth something.

FlyTV's Express M5 and M3 ExpressCard tuners

FlyTV's Express M5 and M3 ExpressCard tuners: "Filed under: Peripherals, Portable Video We're not sure how long FlyTV's actually been selling their Express M5 MST-T2A2, and M3 MST-T2 tuners, but it's among the first ExpressCard TV devices we've seen -- unfortunately if you want to tune into analog signals, it's the M5 ExpressCard 54, and not the M3 ExpressCard 34 device, you're going to have to snag (34 is the smaller standard seen in the MacBook Pro, for example). But if your machine has a 54 slot, you can view and record multiple DVB-T, digital, or analog sources simultaneously in MPEG-1/2/4 via digital antenna, S-Video, and composite in with the M5, and the same without the analog antenna on the M3. Of course, we know what would make this really useful is ATSC support, but we don't really think LifeView, the Taiwanese company who produces the FlyTV, was aiming for US soil when they launched this one

Doom 3 Case Mod: Whoa!

Doom 3 Case Mod: Whoa!: "Even if you're not a Doom 3 player, it's hard not to appreciate this intricately crafted case mod. There's not much info available but what's inside other than it’s watercooled, but in this case, it's what's outside that counts.

Zalman VF900-CU Videocard Heatpipe GPU Cooler Review @ Tweaknews.net

Zalman VF900-CU Videocard Heatpipe GPU Cooler Review @ Tweaknews.net: "'Zalman has a real winner in the VF900-Cu. It brings it all to the table, with its excellent performance, quiet operation and ease of installation. The fit and finish is outstanding and it weighs less than the stock solution that came with my card. As the VF900-Cu is still new to the marketplace, its availability and price point can't be ascertained with any degree of reliability at this time. At $50, this is not a cheap cooling system, but its performance goes a long way toward making the VF900-Cu a good value.' "
